Thumbs up Guaranteed winning number

Has anybody investigated the potential of a system (in a 6-number draw whereby 5 lottery numbers are chosen and then 'boxed' or combined with every other number left in the barrel. An example of a lotto ticket:

(Chosen numbers: 1,2,3,4,5)

Ticket:
Line1 1 2 3 4 5 6
Line2 1 2 3 4 5 7
Line3 1 2 3 4 5 8
Line4 1 2 3 4 5 9
Line5 1 2 3 4 5 10
Line6 1 2 3 4 5 11
Line7 1 2 3 4 5 12
Line8 1 2 3 4 5 13

..and so on right down to...

Line34 1 2 3 4 5 39
Line35 1 2 3 4 5 40

As you can see, if our chosen numbers come out, (in this example 1,2,3,4,5) then somewhere on the ticket we win a 1st division prize.

Anybody who can see a benefit in something like this, email me, I have a really REALLY great idea to work with.

The most I can recall in a row was 4 numbers.

If I am assembling a wheel, I never put more than two numbers in a row.
Even 3 numbers is rare.

Hope this helps.

Smile Oh sorry, I didn't mean that....

Sorry, I was actually just using the numbers 1, 2, 3, 4 & 5 as an example. The 5 chosen numbers could just as easily be:

5, 13, 25, 35 & 38 Here's what I mean:

On a lotto ticket, we take the numbers: 5, 13, 25, 35, & 38 and we play them with every other number that is left in the barrell. (it is a '5 with the field' scenario) The 5 numbers could be 5 random numbers.

Here's what the ticket would look like with the above numbers as an example: (in a 40-number draw)

5 13 25 35 38 1
5 13 25 35 38 2
5 13 25 35 38 3
5 13 25 35 38 4
5 13 25 35 38 6
5 13 25 35 38 7
5 13 25 35 38 8
5 13 25 35 38 9
5 13 25 35 38 10
5 13 25 35 38 11
5 13 25 35 38 12
5 13 25 35 38 14
5 13 25 35 38 15
5 13 25 35 38 16
5 13 25 35 38 17
5 13 25 35 38 18
5 13 25 35 38 19
5 13 25 35 38 20
5 13 25 35 38 21
5 13 25 35 38 22
5 13 25 35 38 23
5 13 25 35 38 24
5 13 25 35 38 26
5 13 25 35 38 27
5 13 25 35 38 28
5 13 25 35 38 29
5 13 25 35 38 30
5 13 25 35 38 31
5 13 25 35 38 32
5 13 25 35 38 33
5 13 25 35 38 34
5 13 25 35 38 36
5 13 25 35 38 37
5 13 25 35 38 39
5 13 25 35 38 40

As we can clearly see, If our 5 chosen numbers came out of the barrell, somewhere on our ticket, we have got the 6th number!!! In effect we have Guaranteed ONE number before we have started.

Even at the lower end of the scale, if 3 of our chosen numbers come out of the barrell, somewhere on the ticket 3 numbers becomes 4, because of the guaranteed winning number scenario.

2 numbers and one bonus number (or supplementary) becomes 3 numbers and the bonus number.

Does this make more sense?
Daniel

It might not be a bad idea in the long term scenario! But think of mixing odd-even...by that I mean play LD odd with only even numbers and LD even with only odd numbers like this
05-15-18-26-35-42
04-10-14-23-34-39
You will have better chance of winning more often if you do this....and mostly you will reduce your cost of playing...

Thumbs up

Thanks daniel,

I get the idea now.

Kind of tough to get 2 numbers or 3 out of 5.
Or even 3 out of 20.
We could try using 2 numbers instead of 1, but that would be expensive.

Looks good though.

Cons and Pros

Daniel,

the good thing about this way of playing is we need 5 numbers to win the jackpot, not 6 anymore.

The bad thing is we are relying on those 5 numbers to come up or even 3 I would be very happy. But it's very hard.
Playing full wheeling system of 9 in my opinion is better than that option cause you already have 9 numbers in you pocket. So if yo match only 4 you are laughing or even 3.
But you know what I would play those fixed 5 numbers once in a while.

Finally, a guy here in B.C won the Jackpot and 2nd prize by playing that way back in Feb !!!

Hi Daniel,

Not knowing the payout of your lottery I'll use BC49, the one I play most often, as an example.

match 3/6 - gets $10
match 4/6 - gets $50
match 5/6 - gets $500
match 5+B/6 - gets a share of $50,000*
match 6/6 - gets a share of $1,000,000*

The system you described is called Combo 5 here. When you choose it you pick 5 nrs and and every other number from 1 to 49 is added to your ticket resulting in 44 combinations (in your case it'd be 35); this way one has to fill out only one ticket.

For Combo 5 for 104 draws per year @$.50/draw, total yearly cost would be $2,288.

Match------------ Prizes Won----------------------$ Won
---------- 3/6---4/6---5/6---5/6+B---6/6--------------
2----------4--------------------------------------------- 40
3---------41-----3-------------------------------------560
4----------------42------2---------------------------3,100
4+B-------------42---------------2----------------52,100*
5------------------------42-------1--------1---1,071,000*

Consider this: to break even on a yearly basis one must capture at least 57x 2/5 or 43x 2/5 + 1x 3/5 etc., etc...

Your 40 nr lottery will have slightly different stats, but not that much. I would suggest that before you even attempt to try this system that you "dry run" to see how often 2/5 or even 3/5 can be captured. It may save you a lot of money in the long run.

I agree with ComboManiac that occasionally, when one is 'certain' some numbers are about to show, this may be a good system to play, but unless 2/5 can be consistently picked (please let us know if there is a sure fire way to do so), proceed with caution.

Hope this helps,

Brad

Try using positional walls as well...

Try to check if the min and max numbers of each position can make it a better play.

aaa_2500,

Do you already have stats on the positional min/max values for 6/49 or Super 7 that you can include here ?

No, My local lottery is a 7/36!

But it makes sense to use positional limits
