Here's a stupid question....

Since I am pretty stupid at times...I would like to know that if you install Windows xp professionnal on top of windows xp home edition if this would work??? Or do I have to uninstall that stupid windows home edition prior to intall the not so less stupid Windows xp professionnal?

...not stupid at all... ...before I can answer, there are some important questions... ...how many Gig is your Harddrive?... ...how many Harddrives do you have?...

I have 60 gig and about half of it is already in usage...

Lets say I have only one drive...no partition in it...

...you need to do a few things... ...60 Gig is OVER KILL... ...you did the same mistake most have done by putting all your data in the same partition Windows is in... ...you will need a minimum of 3 partitions...

...you have been told... ...you need to have a way to keep the one you got for now and install Windows XP... ...its not hard... ...you must have an understanding to be able to mange this... ...if you don't you are beat...

...its a very stupid move to install Windows XP Professinal where Windows XP Home is... ...you will retain the collection of garbage Windows accumulates in its registry... ...the Windows registry is fragile... ...your BEST move is a clean start... ...trust me, you have a high percentage to regret using the same partition... ...if something goes wrong, you are sunk and loose time and data if you make the wrong choices keeping in one partition...

Basically I should unistall home edition first...and install windows pro after if I got it right....Great Thanks George !!! Your an aces!!

...a backup is a good precaution... ...there are better choices to manage this task more effectively.. ...leave it the professional with the experience...
