Lotto Formula Needed

Hi to everyone,

This is my first post on this forum so please bear with me.

The problem I have is to do with the UK 649 lottery.
There are several of us in a syndicate, and as all the members in this forum will appreciate, we are always looking for ways to beat the system.
We change our syndicate numbers from time to time, and could do as many as 50 lines.

What I really want to do is test EACH of the syndicates new lines over the complete Lottery history ( at present 765 draws ).
I would like an individual total for each syndicate line for Match 3, Match 4, Match 5, Match 5+ The Bonus and Match 6 ( I wished ).
The sydicate lines are in ( Excel 2002 ) M1:R50 for example.
The history of All the Lottery draws are in ( Excel 2002 ) E1:K765.

The result would look something like this :-

Results Over ALL Draws ( 765 )

Sydicates ---- 3 4 5 5+ 6
Lines ---- Match Match Match Match Match
-----------------------------------------------------------------
1 2 3 4 5 6 ---- 10 4 2 1 0
7 8 9 10 11 12 ---- 15 6 1 0 1

Is this possible using formulas ( Or Several )?, or will it need VB
code.
I am using Excel 2002 ( Windows XP).

Thanks for your help.

Regards
PAB

I use Windows lotto Pro 2003 to check the history of my uk lotto tickets.

I find this program the best to use as it doesn't have the all flashing ,singing gimmicks as most do.

try the demo
Best of luck

Analysis for past draws

Yes it is quite feasible (and easy) to calculate this in Excel.

For each draw result, you add 6 times the COUNTIF function using as parameters the different numbers of your line. If you get a sum of 5, then you must consider if the bonus number is right.

Then you calculate (still with the COUNTIF function) how many 0 winning numbers you got, then 1 winning number, then .... up to 6 winning numbers.

The 1-2-3-4-5-6 combination has got 344 times 0 winning number, 311 times 1 winning number, 94 times 2 winning numbers and 17 times 3 winning numbers and never 4 winning numbers or more.

I have this set up in a file which could be forwarded to you through LT.

Hi GillesD,

I would appreciate it if you could possibly forward me the file.
Is it an Excel file?.
It sounds as if it will do exactly what I want.

Thanks for the reply.
