Post How much would is a BIG win for you?

How much money would you consider to be a big win, and why? Do you play particular lotteries that have jackpots around the dollar figure you target?

ie lotto max $10mill and up because you want a private island.
lottario because a half million is enough for retirement
etc

I personally target kenos 10 number ($1 wager) for a win of $250,000. That kind of money would let me reach a goal of mine.

Cool

hiya gmac78, chasing $250k eh? that'd work for me, although I'd likely need $500k, since California & USA would rape me on taxes, and perhaps leave me with $250k har har!

looking at OLGC Keno lottery chart for example, such setup givesya heaps of betting options towards your goal.
http://www.olg.ca/lotteries/games/daily_keno_prize_details.jsp

what is your usual Keno bankroll? perhaps boildown your absolute favorite numbers to ride on a $5 pick9 or $10 pick8? many Keno players I know, like to fortify bets in an effort to exploit the better odds instead of chasing the super longshot.

oh, and as for an island...I've seen islands around 40acres in Southeast Asia for as little as $200k, cheaper than some crappy crackerbox home here in California ha!

goodluck!

Even after the exorbitant US tax rates taken into account, the take-home jackpots are usually far larger than those in Canada. That being said, Im not complaining with the ones Im pounding my head in the 649 and Max to win!

Keno keeps a tangible goal in mind for me. Ive hit 9/10 once a couple of yeras ago ($5,000) so the prospect of 10/10 is there.

I think $25k is a good starting point.So in Keno terms I'd play 7 numbers@$5.00(odds=1 in 15,464) or 8 numbers@$1.00(1 in 74,941)

I also won $5k(9 of 10)way back in '98 but it was a fluke since I don't normally play 10 numbers.I usually play 4-5 numbers.

I also play Ontario49 since you can play 4 tickets for the price of 1 Lotto649 ticket.Wheeling 6/49 tickets can get quite expensive. So for a $1 Million prize I,ll stick to Ont49.

cool, if I want to shoot for $1mil+, this is the game here, odds about 4times as bad as your Ont49, and no 50cent bets heh!

Millionaire2b,

Thats a great fluke but it can only happen again as less of a fluke if you play consistently.

I never really thought about playing Ontario49 but you make a persuasive argument. One million is really all you need if you play your cards right.

Blitzed, I was just in Vegas for a few days and let me tell you, the casino session was incredible. I didnt win much at all but the hours of up and down entertainment with the crowd at the table was fantastic!!!!

Roger.www...Half a mill would be sweet. Yes, that does count as a big enough win for me to be satisfied.

As for why the 161 million pound winners still play lotteries is BEYOND me. Seriously, they wont spend what they have now so it must either be out of boredom or addiction that they continue.

Thats a good way to put it Blitzed, cheap hourly entertainment...lol.

So Im here for a few hours every day up and down going nowhere but still having a good time. A buddy of mine who doesnt gamble visited me at the table on the last night there and asked a bit about how roulette is played.

He eventually wanted to put the minimum down just to say he gambled in Vegas. Well, his $10 bet on black doubled his money which he then arbitrarily placed on single zero green. I didnt say a word as it knew it was a long shot bet and he had no clue where he was placing chips. Well, you guessed it, green slotted in. Thinking he merely tripled his $20, his facial expression was the only one at the table of half a dozen that wasn't shocked. I told him he just won $720. He said a few incoherent words in excitement as he gathered his chips and walked straight to the cashier without even tipping the dealer...LOL.

What's a big win? I guess it depends on what you want from the money. Just want to get out from under the mortgage -$250K would do it for a lot of folks (unless you live in Vancouver!). Or maybe you want to be able to tell your a**hole boss to shove it -- that would take a couple of mil. If you really want to live the millionare lifestyle with multiple homes and a private jet, you'd better start playing the mega jackpot lotteries 'cause your gonna need 100 million plus. And with that kind of money you could quit your job, buy the company and fire your a**hole boss!

For me, a million would be lotto nirvanah. Maybe someday...
