TORONTO - Ontario's lottery and gaming corporation has called in the police to investigate a retailer who won over 160 prizes in nine years amounting to more than $1 million.
OLG says it is not aware of any evidence of wrongdoing in the case, which involves a retailer in northwestern Ontario. But the Ontario Provincial Police have been asked to investigate the unusually lucky lottery seller.
OLG says it has had an independent auditing firm reviewing past winner files, including lottery wins by retailers going back to 1995.
Any other findings that suggest criminal behaviour on the part of some winners will also be turned over to police.
The provincial lottery corporation has implemented a number of security measures after investigations showed too many retailers were winning too many large jackpots.

9 years is a long time. I think this guy is just lucky and/or plays more than
the average person.

I know I could never work in a lottery shop because I would be spending my whole pay cheque on lottery tickets..lol..
For all anyone knows customers could have beeen giving him some good tips on numbers/stats..Between that and luck it's possible over that over long period of time a person could win that much especially if he is "lucky"..

lol..true story, a variety store owner in my area went bankrupt
playing the lotto. By the time her husband found out, it was too late, he had a real job that kept him very busy, he was not paying much attention to the store revenues.
But I can see someone dropping $300+ a week on Keno/Pick4/pick3
and winning thousands. Likely that's how this guy won the money.
Last time I checked at the Yahoo site, the cops cleared him of wrong doing.

im thinking its a situation where he doesnt pay out the wining prizes he scans, like have a losing ticket handy , and scan that when the customer is inattentive.
i think thats the big worry some people have bout lotto. one o my mates always writes hid name and address on the back befor handing it over to cashier to scan.

Lotto retailers are no longer permitted to check tickets now unless they are signed first by the person holding the winning ticket....

I would be willing to wager he was playing a lot of Keno, plus he may
have had a good system for Pick4 and/or Pick3/Proline
Scratches would not allow him to win consistently, not likely. Maybe once in a while.

something seems fishy about this retailer ....... but i think that in nine years you could win over 1 million dollars. I'd like to know how much money they spent to get those kinds of winnings.....this would show if their was any wrong doing..... but i guess its hard to keep all your lottery tickets for nine years...... geez in just a month i amass a large amount of useless tickets!

hmmm, well someone who owns a store likely gets a feel for regular players who win, and they get in on the action.
also, winning retailers get a cut of big prizes...so I imagine they'd blow their share chasin the dragon themselves heh!
cya,
blitzed

It's 1 million gross Jimmy70, over a 9 year period, we don't how much he was spending.
Remember in Feb this year when I grossed $21,000 playing keno, all in the same week ?
I am sure it can be done, you have to be prepared to risk a lot of money
and have a system in place. His net over 9 years is probably less than $3/4m
